What problems are women solving for? And how can AI help?

March, 2025

We’re excited to kick off our first post for She Runs On AI!

Before we dive into generative AI—the latest tools and tricks—we need to start with a more fundamental question:

What problems are women solving for?

Generative AI is just a tool. And while it’s easy to get excited about new technology, the real question is: How can it help you with what actually matters in your life?

Here are the top five challenges many women are navigating today:

1️⃣ Career Growth & Transitions – Whether it's breaking into leadership, navigating a career change, or figuring out the next step, many women are working through key decisions that impact their professional future.

Women spend 30% more time researching job opportunities before applying. (LinkedIn, 2024)

2️⃣ Time Management, Productivity & self-care – Balancing a career, family responsibilities, and self-care is a constant challenge that women are working through.

Women dedicate 48 minutes less per day to leisure and self-care, with time constraints being the main barrier. (American Time Use Survey, 2024)

3️⃣ Financial Security & Wealth Building – From negotiating salaries to investing and planning for long-term security, financial confidence is a major focus area.

Only 28% of women actively invest in the stock market, despite women statistically being better long-term investors. (Fidelity, 2024)

4️⃣ Parenting & Caregiving – Many women juggle careers while raising kids or caring for aging parents, often without enough time or support.

66% of family caregivers in the U.S. are women, with many providing an average of 20+ hours per week of unpaid care for aging parents. (AARP, 2024)

5️⃣ Health & Wellness – Prioritizing physical and mental health while managing everything else isn’t easy. Whether it’s staying consistent with workouts, meal planning, or reducing stress, finding balance is a challenge.

A 50% dropout rate is seen among women who start a new workout routine within the first six months, with lack of time and motivation being the top reasons. (American College of Sports Medicine, 2024)

Though we are all navigating some (or all) of these areas, figuring out what to prioritize becomes its own challenge. When everything feels urgent, it’s easy to put our own needs last—or to feel like we’re constantly juggling without real progress. AI won’t magically fix this, but it can help bring clarity, automate repetitive tasks, and give us back time to focus on what truly matters.

So, what is generative AI, and why does it matter?

Unlike traditional AI, which focuses on analyzing data, automating tasks, or making predictions, generative AI creates. It can generate text, images, code, and even entire strategies based on patterns it has learned. And while it’s not perfect, it’s a powerful tool that can help us think and work differently—Think of it as a brainstorming partner, a writing assistant, a personal strategist—whatever you need it to be. The key is knowing how to apply it to the challenges you’re already solving.

From checking out job opportunities in the market to crafting the most fantastic bedtime story for your four-year-old when you're just too tired to think, AI can step in as a support system. It’s less about the technology itself and more about how it fits into your life.
