AI for, about everything
March, 2025
Meet Ana
Ana Costa e Silva, PhD in AI, MBA has been working in the field since 2006 — long before GenAI made it mainstream. Back then, it was all about data, math, and code (so much code!) — technical and out of reach for most. But now? AI is for everyone, and Ana’s here for it.
How “Ana Runs on AI”
Ana uses ChatGPT every day — for everything from deep work to life’s small (but meaningful) questions. Here’s how:
Health Research: To explore complex symptoms related to her rare genetic condition, Ehlers-Danlos, uncovering niche research papers she never would’ve found on her own.
Relationships: Whether it’s navigating a sensitive subject with her husband or figuring out how to support her aging mother, Ana calls it “a life coach that reads everything.”
Business: To augment her strategic thinking — embracing and then pushing past the new minimum standard LLMs (Large Language Models) have set. When crafting a point of view on the EU’s AI policy, she got some great pointers on how it compares with U.S., Swiss, and Chinese policies — something she never would’ve had time to do alone.
Career Growth: From guidance to approach her salary negotiation, to helping friends tailor job applications — uploading resumes and job descriptions to generate customized intro letters. Ana sees it as a tool for real career momentum.
Everyday Life Hacks: To identify forgotten movie titles from vague descriptions, improve her writing, assist with coding, and summarize trends in AI — cross-checking against consulting reports to stay sharp.
Ana sees LLMs — like the one behind ChatGPT — as “toddlers who’ve read everything”: brilliant but clumsy, full of potential yet easily biased. Trained on vast amounts of internet text, they predict and generate human-like language. “They reflect the world as it was, not as it should be — so we need to guide them.”
Her Advice to You
“There are only three things we can be sure of in life: death, taxes, and change. Change is unsettling, but it’s also the gateway to new paradigms — possibly better ones. My main advice? Drink from the hose. Find the excitement in it. Embrace it. It’ll make your work easier, your thinking sharper, and give you more time — not just to play with your kids, but to actually raise them.”
“Install the ChatGPT app on your phone, then ask: If you were a human, how would you break out of the Matrix?” (Not her idea, but SO COOL.)
